KC Getaway

I'm off from work for two weeks, so we spent a few days in KC.  We are not real "thrill seekers", so just kind of took it easy.  We went to a few places we've never been before.   A co-worker suggested the T-Rex Cafe, which was a lot of fun.  We were seated in a room with a huge aquarium full of beautiful fish.  The food was pretty good.  Kristin and I shared a free appetizer and shared a BBQ chicken pizza.  We also took in our other favorite restaurants, Sweet Tomato, Smashburger, and we were delighted to see Corner Bakery open in the KC area, so we had to eat there too!

In Bonner Springs is the Moon Marble Company.  We got in on the last demonstration of making a marble.  It took about ten minutes or so.  We lost all of our marbles there.

We went downtown to the free money museum.  It's on the first floor of the Federal Reserve bank in KC.  We saw an automated robot taking pallets of money to the vault.  Pretty amazing.  They were not giving free samples away, but we did get a small bag of shredded money that was taken out of circulation.

Beautiful view of downtown KC.  This tall tower is the World World I memorial.  We didn't go there today, but it's on our agenda for the next trip.  It's been 100 years since World War I started.

Our traditional hotel picture.

Sam enjoying a movie and popcorn.  The boys went swimming four times while at the hotel.
