Hutchinson Salt Mine Field Trip

What a great reason to take a day off work.  Hang out with a bunch of 4th graders on their field trip to the Hutchinson Salt Mine.  We have been there several times, but never with a tour guide who also took us to a restricted area.  The salt mine started back in 1922.  Men used to load salt cars by hand.  The roof also was about five feet high, so grueling work.  No wonder they were called "muckers".

Sam's height would have been perfect for a five foot roof, but he plans on a different career.
