Memorial Day Weekend

Sam and Ben at Botanica

They have a really neat temporary fairy tale exhibit at Botanica.  They have stations where they tell the story and some have sets that move.  They have the Three Little Pigs, Jack and the Bean Stalk, Goldie Lox and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and a few others.  It was a beautiful day to be outside.

Mowing and Biking

Sam learning the basics about mowing.

Last year, Sam learned to ride his bike without training wheels.  Now, it's Ben's turn.  We'll see how long it takes.

Outdoor Fun

Great Plains Nature Center is hosting some free fishing nights this summer.  It was a beautiful evening.

Mom actually reeled this big guy in.  She said that it was the first fish she'd ever caught.

While driving home on Oliver close to the highway, we saw this big turkey.  He was even gobbling.

A Beautiful Saturday

After working at our swim club this morning for a couple of hours, we rushed off to a wedding at Botanica.  It was a beautiful day.  We had fun hanging out with our great friend, Danny.

Awana Awards Night

Tonight was the Awana annual awards night.  Believer's Southern Baptist Church really wraps their heart around this ministry.  Ben was a Sparky this year and learned a lot.

Ben receiving his award which consisted of a ribbon and some other goodies.

Sam was in Truth and Training this year in Awana.  He invited his good friend Seth from school who went with Sam most of the year.  Grandma and Grandpa Shaffer were always helpful getting the boys home week after week.

Egg Drop and Birthday Parties

Sam and Ben's school on Friday had their annual egg drop.  Each student had to drop a homemade device off a fire truck ladder.  The object was to keep the egg from breaking.  Each teacher dropped their students' eggs off the ladder.  It was very windy, so I would assume the ride was nauseating.  Sam and Ben each had a Styrofoam code hollowed out with an attached model rocket parachute.  Their eggs did not break.
